IKEW is helping children especially girls in rural areas

Poor power supply is one of the biggest challenge which is faced by the schools in rural areas. Into the lives of girls in government school a ray of light is initiatively brought by UNICEF-IKEA.

In the year 2004-2005 the government has established the KGBV residential schools, providing education from 6th to 8th class, especially for girls belonging to marginalised communities under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (Education for All) project.

IKEW is a Swedish company, this company through UNICEF deals in the product of lightening and interior decor. In Swedish to the statt of Uttar Pradesh the company will provide 60,000 solar lamps, these lamps are known as ‘Sunnan’, or ‘Bright sun’.

These solar lamps will help children especially girls it will help them to study, play, read and write at night, believed by Angela Walker. Angela Walker is the Chief Communication specialist, UNICEF India.
